Given Wolfram’s intellect and capacity to consume information, I’m surprised and disappointed by the clear trend where he goes into a discussion or debate with a serious scientist, claims he knows nothing or little about their work, and the proceeds within minutes to tell them the problem with it. lol. I would frankly feel disrespected as the scientist on the other end. I know he’s busy, and I have mad respect for Wolfram, but these would be way more productive if he did even a minimal amount of background reading.

This was quite difficult to watch. All participants are unbelievably gifted, but both theories are derived from abstraction. If one can be open to entertaining their own abstract starting point, they should surely be open to entertaining the others. These are both equally valid abstract frameworks in my book and worthy of a balanced discussion. A bit of a personal life lesson: always try to listen to the other side, even if you disagree.

I found a Rocky Mountain Tiger Salamander during fall time in Northern Utah, quite literally 10 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. I was shocked for several reasons: 1) it’s on the Endangered species list. 2) it was about 5 feet vertically up from the creek that it crawled from and literally chilling in the leaf debris in the parking lot next to the trailhead, I was more impressed that no car had ran it over. 3) I already knew this about salamanders hibernating in the winter time but this bad boy was so cold to the touch I could’ve used him as my own personal ice bag… (this was the first two or three weeks in October, so the days were still or having has potentially to the upper 70s low 80s… but the evenings and early morning hours had that crisp cool air that every person who lives in the intermountain West craves after a long hot winter. It’s one of my top two rare creatures I’ve crossed paths with onon nature ventures … I made sure to relocate him after I took photos and sent them to University of Utah because apparently that’s what they want you to do after I googled salamanders in northern Utah. I had no idea there’s even salamanders in northern Utah… … but I was happy to learn that they’re only in bodies of water that are considered healthy so that made me happy:)
